【摘要】:1.1Theobjectiveofthispracticeistoprovideanefficientandconsistentmethodologytolocateandcharacterizefractureoriginsinadvancedceramics.Itisapplicabletoadvancedceramicswhicharebrittle;thatis,thematerialadherestoHooke'sLawuptofracture.Insuchmaterials,fracturecommencesfromasinglelocationwhichistermedthefractureorigin.Thefractureorigininbrittleceramicsnormallyconsistsofsomeirregularityorsingularityinthematerialwhichactsasastressconcentrator.Intheparlanceoftheengineerorscientist,theseirregularitiesaretermedflawsordefects.Thelattershouldnotbeconstruedtomeanthatthematerialhasbeenpreparedimproperlyorissomehowfaulty.1.2Althoughthispracticeisprimarilyintendedforlaboratorytestpieceanalysis,thegeneralconceptsandproceduresmaybeappliedtocomponentfailureanalysesaswell.Inmanycases,componentfailureanalysismaybeaidedbycuttinglaboratorytestpiecesoutofthecomponent.Informationgleanedfromtestingthelaboratorypieces(forexample,flawtypes,generalfracturefeatures,fracturemirrorconstants)maythenaidinterpretationofcomponentfractures.Formoreinformationoncomponentfractureanalysis,seeRef(1)178;.1.3ThispracticesupersedesMilitaryHandbook790.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
